Individuals and families who meet income and household net worth criteria are eligible to open an Individual Development Account, a matched savings account. The Credit Union Family Partnership Project established IDAs to help individuals and families build toward long-term financial stability. Eligible participants benefit from a dollar for dollar match and financial education conducted from participating credit unions. Affinity Credit Union is proud to serve as the designated pilot credit union in the Des Moines metro area.
Affinity Credit Union financial advisors counsel participants on sound financial practices such as credit repair and sound purchase decisions. Ongoing monitoring and advising helps member participants build wealth, responsibility and independence. Typical goals IDAs can help participants achieve include:
- Home ownership
- Higher education and job training
- Small business funding
- Vehicle purchase to enable employment
