Hope Ministries - Bethel Mission
A part of Hope Ministries, Bethel Mission is a homeless shelter for men which provides meals, bible study, christian counseling, and case management. Through their rescue services, they provide the basic necessities of life for those in need in Des Moines and central Iowa including shelter, food and clothing.
is to serve the community at-large through their meals program, providing three free meals every day of the year at their Hope Cafe, and through their King's Closet clothing program.
Open since 1915, the Bethel Mission men’s shelter is located at 1310 6th Avenue in Des Moines. Shelter guests can remain for 60 days free each year and an additional 60 days in a calendar year for a $5 per day program fee.
In 2017 alone, 1,035 men received emergency shelter care, and over their 100+ year history, this number is well into the tens of thousands.
Hannah (Development Associate) and Melissa (Communications Coordinator) were kind of enough to welcome us to their office and provide an overview of the services that Hope and Bethel Mission provide our community.
